Deworming

One of the programs of the school headed by the Department of Health is to reduce/ eliminate intestinal parasitism among public elementary school learners in order to improve the health of the school aged learners and improve the quality life of each and every students in the school.

DOH spears the deworming with the help of the Department of Education to lead the deworming of the elementary learners to reduce the prevalence of soil transmitted helminthiasis (STH) among school age students. If not treated, STH may lead to malnutrition, anemia, growth retardation, impaired cognitive functions and other health problems.

Objectives:

Promote active participation of children, teachers and health givers through program at schools;
Reduce the incidence of parasitism in children;
Reduce school absenteeism related to parasitic diseases and gastrointestinal symptoms.
