School- Based Immunization

           The School-Based Immunization (SBI) or vaccination of school-aged children is one of the programs of the Department of Health (DOH) to protect the students. Immunization helps in the elimination of different contagious diseases such as measles, German measles, tetanus and diphtheria which can be deadly if not prevented.

           The said program is made possible with the collaboration of the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). This will be held in the month of August in all public schools wherein student from Kinder, Grades one to Grades seven will receive free vaccination recommended by the DOH to boost the immune system of the children.

OBJECTIVES:

 

  • To provide life-long immunity against tetanus to all primary school graduates

  • To provide a booster dose for diphtheria

  • To reduce measles mortality and morbidity
