GULAYAN SA PAARALAN Gulayan sa Paaralan at Malagasang II ES was launched in 2018 under renovation of school garden. It has a total area of 302.78 sq. meters comprising the BSP-GSP Gulayan Extension, Aquaphonics, Mushroom production, GPP Grade I Extension and Plantarium. GPP serves as the planting base of green leafy vegetables that promotes the importance of nutritious values to the human body and to sustain supplementary feeding program in order to minimize severely wasted and wasted learners. It also enhances the development of values among the learners by integrating curricula concepts in planting and eating vegetables. The school used alternative gardening methods such as hanging or containerized gardening using tires, empty bottles, recyclable plastic bags and so on. M2 ES believes that outside learning enables learners to take measured risks, grow confidence, self-esteem and able to transform and developing different learnings. GPP and Clean and Green Project. Clean And Green Project To support our School-based Feeding Program (SBFP), the M2ES Gulayan sa Paaralan (GPP) Program, Aqua phonics System and Mushroom cultivation were put up to support our “Clean and Green Project. Eco-Bricks Making Our school “Clean and Green Project” was implemented in school not only in making our surroundings green with vegetables but also making our surroundings clean by finding solution to one of our big problems - daily files of garbage coming from plastic wrappers and scratch papers. One of the solutions we identified is to deal on the production of “eco bricks” made from empty 1.5 plastic bottles brought by students in school and fill the empty bottles with plastic garbage from the food plastic wrappers.
- Project Read to Learn | Malagasang II Elemen
Project REAP (Reading Enrichment Activity Program) Reading is one of the fundamental skills that pupils should develop during their early years. Exposure to different literary texts whether digital or print is a big contributory factor to the reading habit of children. The lack of reading materials at home means less inclination to love reading as well as its development. The differences in the life status and availability of materials in every home is uncontrollable. Thus, as an educational institution, we need to think of programs, projects and activities that can offer equal opportunities for children in order to develop their reading skills and abilities that can lead to the pupil’s educational success. Pupils with difficulty in reading undergo the Reading Remediation Program while pupils who are instructional, as well as independent readers, are encouraged to participate in an activity that will improve their comprehension skills and challenge their ability. Thus, Project REAP (Reading Enrichment Activity Program) was launched to provide reading materials digitally especially to learners under the Online Distance Learning Modality. Digital reading materials are provided to the learners which they can read and practice during their free time and/or after classes. Comprehension questions are also provided through Google Forms to find out how well they understood the story. Immediate feedback and scoring is also provided through the Google Forms for pupils and parents to keep track of their performance. Other supplementary materials in reading and comprehension are also organized through the grade level e-library. These materials are within their grade level, one level higher and one level lower than their present grade level. Students are given access to the e-library. Project Box of Knowledge Project Box of Knowledge is geared toward students who struggle with reading. Our objective is to assist students in becoming independent readers regardless of the pandemic. Parents, guardians, and teachers collaborate to facilitate this reading-based learning. Parents recognized the efficacy of our Reading Program and pledged to continue supporting and participating in parent capacity building. This year, Project Box of Knowledge will continue to demonstrate its effectiveness in assisting more of our struggling and non-reading students. We made use of reading material by leveling its use in the new normal reading setup. This box will be distributed to parents or guardians for use in teaching their child. Project JOIE (Join Our Initiative to Educate) Ride Project JOIE Ride aims to equip Grade 1 to Grade 6 struggling readers from nearby barangays with reading skills to make them proficient and independent readers in their grade level. The school's e-jeepney serves as a reading hub as it visits nearby barangay during the conduct of the intensive remedial reading activity for the learners in the community. Project Byahe ni MARIA (Magbasa't Aralin, Resulta'y Inyong Aanihin) Project Byahe ni MARIA ( Magbasa’t Aralin, Resulta’y Inyong Aanihin) is an activity designed to provide the learners’ reading opportunities, especially those who were significantly marked as non-readers or in frustration level as shown from the result of the PHIL-IRI Post Test in Filipino (2020) from each grade level. School Principal Dr. Jocelyn A. Limosinero, together with the reading coordinator and teachers in Filipino, home visited struggling learners to encourage the learners to read so they can feel the pleasure of reading and develop enthusiasm in reading. Malagasang II ES Ejeepney was used in reading sessions to help struggling readers improve their reading level from frustration to instructional and independent level. Barangay staff in Malagasang II A also lend their Bokyo tricycle to reach remote areas in the barangay wherein more struggling learners were given reading sessions.
